Son La is a highland province in the north-west of Vietnam that shares a 250 km border with Huaphanh and Luangprabang provinces in Laos. The terrain is hilly and mountainous with two large plateaus near Son La city and at Moc Chau. The Moc Chau plateau is famous for oolong tea farms, fruit and dairy. Areas of shan tuyet wild tea trees can be found at Ta Xua in Bac Yen district and also in Yen Chau district between Moc Chau and the Laos border.
